Raised chain band stitch is a chain stitch variation where a row of chain stitches are stitched on a base of parallel straight stitches. You will need to know how to stitch the chain stitch.
Stitch a base of parallel straight stitches.
The chain is usually stitched with a contrasting color.
Bring the needle up near the middle of the straight stitch as shown below.
Lace the needle through the straight stitch. Please note the direction of the needle. It passes from up to down.
You can see that the green thread is looped around the straight stitch.
Now stitch a regular chain stitch like shown below. The needle is laced under the straight stitch
and the working thread is looped under the needle.
Repeat the two steps.
Continue to add chain stitches on the bands. The fabric is not plucked when making the chain stitches.
