Mirror Work / Shisha Embroidery / Abhla Bharat is an Indian embroidery stitch where mirrors are attached to fabric. This is such a simple stitch that it feels like cheating :). The decorative stitch used is chain stitch and link stitch.
First we have to anchor the mirror to the fabric with foundation stitches. Depending on the size of the mirror, you can decide the number of parallel straight stitches.
The weave another set of perpendicular straight stitches. A newbie tip – Start from the middle. This will make it easier to hold the mirror in place.
Stitch one or two lines of chain stitches around the mirror.
Any stitch can be used as a decorative stitch.
I am going to add a few link stitches around the mirror.
You can also add french knots at the tip of the link stitches.
I added more link stitches in purple.
