Scrubs work great to clean our skin and remove the dirt and dead cells from it. While there are so many products out in market, I usually prefer to make scrub at home as it is chemical free. Also all the scrub ingredients are available right in the kitchen and each time, I can make a new type of face or body scrub with it 🙂
Tips for using scrub
There are a few things that need to be kept in mind while using scrub.
- Firstly you need to choose the ingredient that suits you the best or doesn’t cause any side effect to your skin.
- Then while using the scrub, you need to rub it gently on your skin, keeping in mind that over rubbing can cause damage to your skin.
- Also, you choose a routine to apply face scrub for best results, depending on your skin type.
- Other than this, you should always avoid using scrub around the eye area and any infected areas or even broken pimples.
Apply scrub over the face/body gently and keep it till it dries off. Then with slight wet hands, rub gently all over the face in circular motion and then wash face with warm water. After washing face, just wet your face with some cold water, so as to close all the pores.
Besan and Potato scrub: (for face and body)
Of all scrubs, my favorite is Besan and Potato scrub. It leaves the skin fresh and removes all the dirt.
To make this, take 1 tbsp of Besan (chic pea powder) and add 1 tbsp of potato juice (grate potato, and squeeze the juice out if it).
This scrub works great even for lightening under arms.
Walnut Scrub: (for face)
Take 1 tbsp of powdered walnut and add 1/2 tbsp of cream or milk. Mash both these well and apply on face. You can also add almond powder to it.
Besan and Oat scrub: (for face)
Take 1 tsbp of besan and 1 tbsp of powdered oats. Add curd (if your skin is dry) or lemon (if your skin is oily). Mix it and apply on face. Gives a very good glow and leaves skin feeling refreshed.
Olive oil and Sugar scrub: (for body)
Mix olive oil and sugar and apply it over body. Keep this for around 5-10 min and then scrub it off gently. Gives the skin, a silky, shiny effect and makes it soft.
Almond, honey and lemon: (for face)
Mix 1 tbsp of almond powder with 1/2 tbsp honey and 1/2 tbsp lemon juice. Apply it on face. It will make skin soft and smooth.
Green Tea, honey and sugar
While green tea has many benefits health wise, it also gives good results on the skin. After making green tea (for best results use the one without flavors), remove 2 tbsp aside. Let it cool down to room temperature. Then add 2 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp of honey. Mix this well and apply on face.
This will give your face a good glow. Its best when done just before going to a party.
Tomato, sugar and oil: (for body)
Scrape out tomato juice (about 1/2 cup). Add 1/4 cup olive oil to it. Mix this well. Now add 2-3 tbsp of sugar (best results if brown sugar is used). Mix all of these and apply on body. It cleans, your skin well, plus removes the tanning effect too.
Besan, Lemon and Turmeric: (for face and body)
Take 2 tbsp besan (chic pea flour), add 1 tsp turmeric powder and 2-3 tbsp lemon juice. Mix all this and apply all over. It removes the dirt and leaves your skin fresh and bright. If your skin is dry, you can replace lemon juice with curd.
