In ancient times in India, many medicines were made using herbs and roots (Ayurveda). Hibiscus is one of them. While Hibiscus comes in variety of colors like Pink, white, yellow etc, mostly the red color Hibiscus flower is used in these Ayurveda medicines. While the extract of Hibiscus is known to ease blood pressure, below are a few uses of Hibiscus flower petals and leaves.
Before, you are ready to use the Hibiscus, make sure you clean them properly and refrigerate them. If you are plucking Hibiscus from outside, make sure its pesticide or fertilizers free.
Take 5 leaves and 5 petals of a red Hibiscus flower.
Boil in water for 3-5 min and let it cool down. After half and hour, drink this water.
Do this for 21 days. This helps in completely getting rid of 70% of body pain.
Not to be consumed during Pregnancy
Remove petals from the red Hibiscus flower and boil it in water till the water quantity is reduced to half.
Remove from gas and let it cool at room temperature.
Once its cooled down, you can drink this water.
Do this for 21 days. It builds iron in the body.
Take white Hibiscus petals and boil them in water for around 2-4 minutes.
After cooling it down to room temperature, drink it during Menstrual days. This helps in relieving the pain.
Remove petals from white Hibiscus and boil them for around 3-4 min. Drinking this once a week, helps get rid of the depression and mood swings cased during PMS and Menopause. This also helps to make the bones strong.
Dry the red Hibiscus flower petals at home, Once its completely dried, grind it well.
Store this powder and apply daily on face by mixing it with water or milk or juice.
Cleanses the face well, removes the dirt, gives a good shine on the face and stops the wrinkles from appearing.
Heat coconut oil or sesame oil and the red Hibiscus flower petals together.
Allow it to cool down at room temperature and then apply on dry skin. This will heal the dry skin or the cracks if any.
Dry the red Hibiscus flower petals at home. Once its completely dried, heat it and then make its powder.
Apply this powder on the eyebrows. This helps in the growth and color of the eyebrows and also.
Take the leaves of a red Hibiscus flower plant. Make its paste and then add 1 egg to it.
Mix this well and apply the pack on hair for 20 min and then wash it away.
This improves the texture of the hair, especially if you have chemically treated your hair (like straightening, highlighting etc.)
This also helps in removing dandruff from the head and supplies moisture to the scalp.
Soak Fenugreek seeds (Methi dana) overnight. Next day grind this along with the red Hibiscus flower leaves, apply on hair and wash it off.
This will help removing the dirt from hair and also stops the dandruff growth.
A few people have hair stickiness problem, either their hair becomes oily or sometimes they sweat from head. Applying this pack will help get rid of that as well.
Make a paste of red hibiscus flower petals and add aloe vera juice to it. Mix it well and apply on hair like a shampoo.
Will give the hair a good shine and nourishment.
Also, when leaves paste is applied to the head, it increases blood circulation.
You can make the paste of leaves and store it for a week in refrigerator.
Make a henna pack by mixing henna powder, water and red Hibiscus flower leaves.
By doing this, it makes the Henna to give a rich color to hair and also provides good nourishment to hair, as Henna may dry off the hair
Take 10 leaves and 10 petals of a red Hibiscus flower plant and add 200 ml Coconut oil to it.
Boil this and allow it to cool down to room temperature. Apply this oil on hair and scalp.
This stops the growth of white hair, nourishes the hair and also makes the hair strong.
